After being accepted to Ohio Northern, prospective students with an ACT composite of 29 or higher (or equivalent SAT score) and a high school GPA of 3.5 (or top 10% of graduating class) may apply to enter the Honors Program. International applicants who do not submit an ACT or SAT score for university admission may substitute an iBT of 90 or higher or IELTS of 7.0 or higher for consideration for the Honors Program.
If you do not meet the GPA ortest scorerequirement, or you haveapplied test-optional, it is possible to petition to haveother markers of academic success be considered. Candidates can petition to apply to the Honors Program if they do not meet these requirements, but have similar evidence of academic success.If you are interested in being considered under these circumstances, pleaseto the Honors Program Director, Dr. Jen Moore.
To apply for the Honors Program, admitted students should submit an essay that addresses the following prompt. Other information (e.g., test scores and GPA) will be drawn from your 91ֱapplication. The Honors Faculty Board recommends that the essay be approximately between 500-600 words.
The essay prompt is:
An intellectual community has a unique quality, unlike any other. Think about intellectual communities you have participated in, and the common denominators that bring scholars (like you) together. How will participating in the community of the 91ֱHonors program contribute to your future goals? To answer this, describe what you think the purpose of an intellectual community is, and the ways that your goals will benefit from participating in the 91ֱHonors community.

There are a limited number of spaces in the Honors Program. The Honors Faculty Board will give priority consideration to applicationssubmittedno later than February 24. Earlier applications are accepted (and encouraged). Applications after this date will be considered as space allows.
