Well known military prosecutor, Colonel Michael Mulligan will serve as the keynote speaker at 91Ö±²¥Law’s annual Goldman Lecture on March 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Tilton Hall, Room 129.
Col. Mulligan led the 2005Ìýcourt-martialÌýofÌýHasan Akbar, a soldier ultimately convicted of murdering two of his fellow soldiers at the beginning of theÌý2003 invasion of Iraq. He was also appointed lead prosecutor in the court-martial ofÌýNidal Malik Hasan in the NovemberÌý2009 Fort Hood shooting that left 13 people dead and more than 30 wounded.
A general court-martial is the military's highest-level trial court. This court tries service members for the most serious crimes.
In the Army, Mulligan was stationed in Germany, where he worked as a deputy and staff judge advocate. After returning to the United States, he served as head of the Criminal Law Division atÌýFort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
